Beware!

When you buy a property you should be told by your solicitor whether it is a Listed Building or within a Conservation Area. Even though it may not be, the goalposts can move. At any time a Local Planning Authority can request that your building be listed; it can include your building in a newly compiled list of Locally Listed Buildings; it can establish a new Conservation Area; or extend an existing Conservation Area. All of these things can have significant impact on what you are able to do to your property.
