Planning Application Fees

As part of the Government's move towards localism a consultation has been launched on the possibility of Council’s setting their own fee levels for planning applications.

Money making exercise? Encouraging competition for development between neighbouring authorities? Attracting more development? Raising the hurdle height for developers? Or the ultimate Nimbyism?

Beware!

When you buy a property you should be told by your solicitor whether it is a Listed Building or within a Conservation Area. Even though it may not be, the goalposts can move. At any time a Local Planning Authority can request that your building be listed; it can include your building in a newly compiled list of Locally Listed Buildings; it can establish a new Conservation Area; or extend an existing Conservation Area. All of these things can have significant impact on what you are able to do to your property.

Please contact me for further advice.
